The works supported Manthey Porsche 911 GT 3 R from Fred Makowiecki and Richard Lietz took a second win in the populair VLN Endurance-series at the Nordschleife after American Conor De Phillippi for the second time in his career ran out of fuel at the Nordschleife. Last year he lost the 6 hrs due tot he same problem. Second place was being taken by the Haribo Mercedes GT3 from the combination Alzen/Arnold/Götz. The car had been a factor during the whole race in fact. The works supported WRT Audi R8 from Müller/Fässler/Frijns finished 3rd despite a puncture in the early stages Frijns told. Despite the fact that Thomas Mutsch was being hit in the second lap already. Both Glickenhaus SCG003 cars were very competitve concerning their lap times and could become a dark horse for this year’s Nürburgring 24 Hrs. During the race there were a lot slipstream battles and ten car trains within the GT3 cars in the top 10 and it provided an entertaining factor for the spectators. The pole surprisingly went to the Manthey Porsche from amateurs Klohs/Jaminet/Kern but as expected they soon dropped out of contention and the 2nd Frikadelli Porsche from Siedler/Luhr took over their role. The ABT Bentley also led for a short while. The best BMW finished 11th. The first Mercedes from Christodoulou/Buurman/Metzger finished 8th.
