Marc Basseng/Frank Stippler established a new long distance record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife. They covered the 35th Grenzlandrennen in 29 laps with their Phoenix-entered Audi R8 LMS Ultra. The Manthey Porsche from Roman Dumas/Jochen Krumbach ended 2nd, 26.881 secs. in arrears. Both cars even had to carry out a “splash and dash” in the final lap! The ROWE Mercedes SLS AMG Mercedes from Jan Seyffarth/Thomas Jäger/Alexander Roloff finished 3rd in the same lap. The McLarens are showing competitiveness. The Dörr McLaren led in the opening stages but retired. The Gemballa McLaren from Lamy/Bert ran in the Top 10 for quite a long time but became the victim of punctures before retiring. Despite the sudden bankruptcy of the Nürburgring GmbH all racing events will take place for the remainder of the season.
