FIA GT1 Winkelhock/Bassing win for Lamborghini in Belgium

The prestigious FIA GT1 category ran at the Belgian Zolder circuit for the first time. The grid for the FIA GT1 race is being decided with a qualification race on Saturday. The All Inkl.com Lamborghini Murcielago SV-R from the Dutch/Geman combination Pastorelli/Schwager took pole. But poleman Pastorelli made a mess of his start and created chaos in the First Lefthander. The SUMO Nissan GT-R from Richard Westbrook was eliminated on the spot as well. Only one driver took advantage of the chaos and that was Markus Winkelhock, he went from 13th to 3rd within 1 lap. Finally the combination Basseng/Winkelhock won the Q-Race. The start of the World Champion Race was a repeat of the first one with chaos again in the first lap. Finally a well calculated pitstop brought the All Inkl.com Lamborghini from Winkelhock in the lead once again. They won the World Championship race ahead of the Aston Martins from Hohenadel/Piccini and Müller/Enge. Czech Enge putting on an impressive charge which was being rewarded with 3rd. Only one Nissan GT-R made it to the finish. GT quite often stands for gentlemenlike behaviour, only a few did at Zolder, as many gentlemen crashed out, leaving their teams with crippled cars.
