Timo Scheider is the new DTM champion
After the first two races of the season it was clear that Audi had the brand new weapon for this year's series though Mercedes quickly gained ground with Paul di Resta winning several series and becoming a serious threat. But in reality Scheider has led the table-standings from the second race onwards Di Resta fought until the last lap and simply came short. Di Resta fell victim of a move from pole-sitter Mattias Ekström, but it did not have far serious consequences for his Mercedes. Anyway he was not amused. Di Resta: "He tried me to send off twice, but I am pleased with second place." Jamie Green finiished 3rd for Mercedes and followed Paul like a shadow to protect position. Scheider(29) won the prestigious DTM-series with 75 points against 71 points from Di Resta. Bruno Spengler finished 4th. Bernd Schneider had already announced his retirement before the event and the multiple DTM-champion who started his 237th race finished 6th in his last ever race. Gary Paffett finished 11th but was the best driver during the season with a 2007-spec chassis.
