Both Marco Wittmann and Edoardo Mortara took wins in both races at the Nürburgring and kept the title charge between Audi and BMW open. Marco Wittmann took the laurels in the first race 7.136 secs. ahead of Tom Blomqvist. For Wittmann it meant his 8th DTM victory and the third one this season. “Unbelievable, this was a great race, good start and tried to avoid making any mistakes. I was pushing flat out all the time to maintain focus and concentration.” A special win for the local RMG team from Stefan Reinhold. Jamie Green took 3rd ahead of Edoardo Mortaro. Both Audi-drivers swapping positions in the final lap. The second race did justice to Mortara won also took his 3rd win this season. Polesitter Lucas Auer(Mercedes) finished 2nd ahead of Saturday winner Wittmann. Mortara: “Our car is running in a great way though we could not show that on Saturday. At the start Mortara moved from 6th to 4th and quick stop in the 28th lap decided the outcome of the race. Seven laps later Mortara took the lead and finished 3.726 secs. ahead of Auer. In the title standings Wittmann remains in the lead with 170 points and Mortaro is second with 135 points. Robert Wickens as well as Jamie Green also have theoritical chances. Green did not score any points just like the Canadian. With two events and four races to go it looks like that Wittmann and Mortara have the best papers for the Hockenheim Final next month. The F3 races were being taken by Canadian Lance Stroll(2) and Maximilian Günther from the Premapower team. Two ultra spectacular Audi TT Cup Races were being won by Joonas Lappalainen from Finnland.
