Home win for Phoenix Racing at the Nordschleife

The Nürburgring based Phoenix Racing booked a home win at the opening round of the populair VLN Endurance Series. In fact Belgian Laurens Vanthoor crossed the finishline first but due to a yellow infringement from his teammate Christopher Haase the Phoenix Audi R8 LMS which crossed the finishline first got a 35 secs. penalty handing the win to the sister Audi from Franks Stippler and Danish newcomer Anders Fjordberg. The Black Falcon Mercedes AMG GT3 from Bernd Schneider/Maro Engel/Manuel Mezger finished 3rd. The race also meant the European debut of BMW M6, but both Schubert and Walkenhorst entries struggled somewhat. The Walkenhorst-cars hit each other and Henkola/Di Martino finished 6th for BMW. Bent ley got pole, but during the race they dropped by the wayside just like the works supported Manthey Porsche GT3’s. With a 10th place Bamber/Pilet saved the honours for Porsche. In the first part of the season the Audi R8 LMS GT3 will be te car to beat. Absolutely.
