In its long list of Championship winning drivers they have rotated through their cars this year, HART added Peter Cunningham to that list. Cunningham helped HART make it six wins in eight races for the Honda engineering team. Cunningham was the sixth different driver to drive the HART Civics this year. All six have gotten at least one win this season. The other drivers on the team include Pete Halsmer, Michael Galati, Forrest Granlund, points-leader Bryan Johnson, and John Schmitt.

After taking over driving duties from Schmidt, Cunningham drove from the back of the pack to put the car in the lead in C2K. Cunningham then sat in the lead, and was virtually unchallenged for the remainder of the race.

Hyundai Motorsports got second with Gord Cullen and Didier Schraenen at the wheel of the Tiburon. Schraenen sat on Cunningham's bumper for several laps near the end of the race, but Cunningham could pull out a lead at will, and by the end of the race pulled to a comfortable margin for the victory.

Bringing home third was the Honda Civic of points leader Bryan Johnson and co-driver Pete Halsmer. The third was enough to gain two points over Johnson's closest contender for the championship, Mark Craig. Craig and Jocelyn Herbert brought the Tiburon home fourth, and missed a great opportunity to make up valuable points on Johnson in the Driver's Championship, a gap that now sits at seventeen points.
