It was announced today that Park Place Racing would be joining with Konrad Motorsports to campaign the Bully Hill Vineyards 250 at Watkins Glen. The combined effort will give Saleen a definite edge in winning the Manufacturer's Championship in 2002.
While both Park Place Racing and Konrad Motorsport own a Saleen S7R, it will be the Konrad Motorsport entry that will be at the Glen. Konrad Motorsport team owner, Franz Konrad, will share the driving duties with Park Place Racing lead driver Chris Bingham.
"We are excited about this weekend," said Bingham, the 2001 Grand Am Rolex Series GTS Champion. "Park Place Racing and their primary sponsor K&N Filters recently parted ways, so it appeared that I might not be at this race. Thankfully Konrad Motorsport, Saleen, and Park Place were able to put together a package that made it financially viable for Saleen to be here and try to win their second Manufacturer's Championship in Grand Am. I just want to thank the three companies because by them putting this package together, I get a chance to win my second straight Grand Am Rolex Series GTS Championship."
Since Park Place Racing already paid for the entry and the team is leading the Team Championship, it was decided that the car would be entered under the Park Place Racing banner. However, the car, and the core team will be comprised of Konrad Motorsport employees, the team responsible for leading Terry Borcheller to the 2001 American Le Mans Series GTS Championship.
