Lakeville, CT -- After dominating the Mosport race last weekend, Boris Said once again drove a masterful race to take the win at the high speed Lime Rock Park. It was the second win for the Panoz in Trans Am competition as Boris took his third podium of the year in the #33 Applied Computer Solutions Panoz Esperante.
It has been said more than once that we are seeing the "new" Boris this year, and from his drives at the last two races, it appears that Boris has turned the corner from being a great race winning driver to becoming a heads up Championship contending driver.
The race started off very interestingly as it appeared that Stu Hayner missed a shift on the approach to the green flag, and Butch Leitzinger, who started on the outside of the front row, got a huge jump on Hayner.
Leitzinger held control of the race until he made his pitstop. Butch bobbled relaunching the car out of the pits and when he rejoined the track, Said was ahead of Leitzinger. Up at front of the field though, Paul Gentilozzi held the lead, but had yet to pull into the pits for fuel. Misfortune struck Gentilozzi in the #3 Johnson Controls Jaguar XKR when a yellow came out for debris. The other contenders had made their pitstop under green flag conditions, and did not lose a lap to Gentilozzi. Therefore when Paul made his stop under the caution, he slotted in at the end of the field, losing oh so important track position.
