The Pirelli World Challenge series was at Mid Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio for Rounds 10&11 of the Touring Car championship this past weekend. Todd Lamb finished first and third in the two rounds in his NKN/SafeRacer Honda Civic with Compass360 Racing.
Round 10 of the championship saw points leader Michael Cooper take the win on Saturday in dry conditions, with Lamb finishing third while struggling to maintain the pace of the turbo cars in his normally aspirated Honda.
Round 11 began with a delay due to poor weather conditions, but once the cars hit the track Lamb moved to the lead on the opening lap and led flag to flag, with C360R teammate Ryan Winchester following close behind. Cooper retired from the race early to finish 14th.
After the points were tallied from the two rounds, Lamb pulled within 101 points of Cooper in the Driver's Championship. With 3 rounds remaining at the final event, the championship is still very much up for grabs. Honda leads the Manufacturer's Championship over Mazda 83-68.
Lamb: "I am stoked to be back on the podium at Mid Ohio! The rain was exactly what we needed on Sunday - it is the great equalizer when it comes to horsepower. With my experience racing in wet conditions I was really happy to see the radar showing lots of rain. We don't quite have the straight line speed of the turbo cars but I have to thank the Compass360 crew for putting a great setup on the car for the wet track."
