Aaron Povoledo has been pushing the GSP Racing Ford Mustang Boss 302S to the limits all weekend at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park . In the first practice session, Aaron Povoledo set a blistering pace as the fastest Ford Mustang Boss 302S in the field by a full second locking his P2 position running a 1:27.260 laptime, just .041 seconds behind the Kia of Michael Galati... a measure where one second makes up eight driver positions in a packed field.
"We were happy with our first practice session but knew there was more in the Capaldi Racing prepped Mustang Boss 302S, so a few changes and tweaks were made to get me ready for the afternoon qualifier." -Aaron Povoledo
With the track temps coming up and the new adjustments, Aaron improved his first session time by over one full second, not quite enough needed to gain position over the powerful Kia Optimas now at P1 & P2. Still with a P3 Qualifying run, Aaron was still the fastest Mustang to lead the Pony Wars for the upcoming Saturday race.
Aaron Povoledo proved his prowess with the World-Challenge Standing start as he moved to the front of the GTS class just before the Full-Course Yellow flag was thrown on the first lap for Alex Figge's Volvo which needed to be recovered from the gravel trap. Now with a rolling restart Povoledo, Baldwin and Galati made up the top three for a fierce battle to run until lap 10 where the Volvo of Randy Pobst brings out the second caution of the day. Here the stage is being set for the battle of the day upon restart with Galati's Kia up front, Povoledo second, Wilkens' Kia third, with Paul Brown and Alec Udell making up the top five GTS positions.
The Green flag drops and an all-out war begins as Povoledo has the fight of his life to gain ground on the Kia of Galati while fighting off the Kia of Wilkens who is defending from a hard-charging Paul Brown in his Tiger Racing Mustang Boss 302 . It
