After two straight wins, Power Racing will be going for number three in a row at the track where they scored their first ever victory as a professional team, even though it only lasted for several hours. It was in the 2000 season that Power Racing took the win at Phoenix International Raceway, only to have it taken away after the race was over.
This season they have taken two straight victories with their Acura Integra Type Rs. Sharing the driving for those two races has been Jason Potter and Mike Keravich III. The team also campaigns a second car for team owner Andy Linder.
Rumor has it that the Chuck Goldsborough led Team Lexus will have their new Lexus IS300s ready to go for Phoenix this weekend. Team Lexus was in need of the more nimble IS300's for the tight configuration of the Phoenix track. Last year the team struggled with the heavier, more powerful GS400s at Phoenix. Driving for the team will be Chuck Goldsborough and Terry Borcheller, so the team will present a serious threat.
Other Integra Type R support will come from Spirit of Miami Racing with three Integras, and King Motorsports.
Three BMW Z3 Coupes will be entered by Villaconn International. Villaconn had been working on getting three cars out on the track at the first two races of the year, but due to electronical problems, they weren't able to get the third car to run properly. With the long break between Homestead and Phoenix, the team was able to get "Frankenstein" (as they affectionately call the cantankerous third car) running and they have confirmed that it will be ready for Phoenix.
