In 1989 Mexican Tomas Lopez Rocha joined Al Rocca in the IMSA Camel Lights ranks to do a two year North American campaign that would end with Lopez Rocha as the GTP-L Champion in 1990.
10 years later, Lopez Rocha's younger brother, Aurelio, a former Formula 2 racer in his native Mexico, will join The Spirit of Miami Acura Race team at Phoenix. "While we were getting Aurelio signed up, Chris got a call inviting him to enter this year's Le Mans race in France. We are going to have to manage without Chris for a couple of races, he is a very good driver, in 98 he took a strong 4th driving a Viper and he is not willing to settle for less this year," said team owner Henry Bradley.
"The good news is both Chris and Aurelio will drive for us at Phoenix, with Wade Gauhran,Jason Piscelli, Marc Bunting and Al Rocca. This gives us the strongest line-up year to date," continued team owner Henry Bradley.
