Danville, VA (February 16, 2009) - Virginia International Raceway is pleased to announce that Sasco Sports has expanded into a new, 10,000 square foot warehouse in VIR's Virginia Motorsport Technology Park. This space is in addition to Sasco's existing facility located in VIR's RacePlex" Industrial Park, giving Sasco a total of 20,000 square feet on VIR property.
Built to house their growing customer base and storage needs, the new space will also be the home of their Dunlop Motorsports program. "With Dunlop increasing their involvement with us through their presence in the American Le Mans Series with BMW, we were in need of additional space," said Sasco Sports president Dave Handy. "We're very excited to be able to be more involved with VIR and the continued growth of the track."
Sasco Sports' focus is on racecar preparation and restoration. The company actively supports customers who race formula and sports racing cars - from Lotus XIs and Lola Mk 1s, to Lotus 23s, McLaren M8s, and Formula Atlantic cars. We are thrilled that Sasco is growing and has committed to an expansion within the RacePlex, remarked VIR Co-owner and Managing Partner Connie Nyholm. Sasco was our first tenant in the RacePlex. It is fitting that they are the first to expand and we congratulate Dave and his fine staff on their success.
VIR's RacePlex" Motorsports Industrial Park gives its tenants a unique opportunity to develop products from a trackside location with optimum vehicle testing capabilities including four distinct road courses, a 5/8-mile karting course, and a variety of off-road courses and terrain. Shop size ranges from 2,500 to 20,000 square feet.
Sasco Sports originally relocated their operation from Connecticut to Virginia in 1999.
