Bomanville, Ontario, Canada (August 23, 2008) - It was another important points day for Randy and his
#1 K-PAX/3R Racing Porsche 911 GT3 team at the Mosport SPEED GT Presented by Toyo Tires at Mosport International Raceway. The weekend started out great with a 50 lbs rewards weight break from the World Challenge officials. Randy had a successful qualifying run and started from the outside pole next to Erie Curran at the 10-turn, 2.459-mile road course. At the green flag, Curran did not have a good standing start and Randy launched into first and led the pack into Turn 1. Randy continued to lead most of the race with pressure from Curran and teammate Michael Galati and was finally passed by Curran on lap 21. A few laps later, after several cars spun and crashed, the yellow flag came out and the race ended under caution due to oil on the track. Randy finished second and Galati was third.

"What a wonderful result. Considering our situation with the rewards weight, I'm thrilled with second place. Our K-PAX team deserves the credit for making the Porsche faster with a great handling setup. Our chief engineer Will Moody came up with a new suspension setup that made the car faster and better which I didn't think was possible. The lighter weight helped a bit but the improvement in handling was the key."

"Qualifying was a close call and important to the ultimate result. At the end of my best lap, I caught two slow cars which screwed up the lap. That was frustrating but we still started second. Then Eric bogged at the start and we got the lead. We were great on the early laps but eventually the rewards weight takes its toll on the tires later in the race. I held off Curran as long as possible but he got me in turn 8. I'd like to thank my teammate Michael Galati for helping me in the race. He could have raced me harder but was a great teammate. Its a real credit to the K-PAX team that both Porsches are back up front. The crew got us faster through hard work and brains. This high level of preparation is so important to the results. I would also like to thank my personal sponsors Team Janica Racing, Prairie Hills Motorsport Club, ChaseCam, and for their continued support."

Randy scored his fourth podium finish of the season and extended his Drivers' Championship lead to 102 points (705) over Andy Pilgrim (603), as well as Porsche's lead in the SPEED GT Manufacturers' Championship. There are still three races to go so anything can happen. The Mosport SCCA SPEED GT race will air Wednesday, August 27, at 1 p.m.(ET) on SPEED. The next World Challenge GT race will be August 29 - 31, at the Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, a great street circuit that Randy loves. Sabine Schmitz will be filling in for Randy in his #181 APR Motorsport Volkswagen GTI at New Jersey. We wish them great results.
