Pobst and the K-PAX/3R Porsches looking to repeat 2007 WCGT win at Watkins Glen

Denver Colorado (June 3, 2008): The K-PAC/3R Racing Team return to racing action on June 6th as drivers Randy Pobst and Michael Galati are looking to return Porsche to the top of the standings when Round 4 of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge GT Championships rumble around the world famous Watkins Glen race track in Watkins Glen New York.

In 2007 the K-PAX/3R Racing Team and Randy Pobst of Gainesville Georgia, used their win at Watkins Glen in their Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car as a spring board to winning the Drivers' Championship and Pobst is hoping for a similar result in 2008 as he trails in the Drivers' Championship by just 5 points.

I have a tough act to follow, Pobst said of his 2007 performance at the Glen that saw him win all three World Challenge races in both GT and Touring Car held that weekend. But, I have the 3R Racing Team behind me and a great K-PAX Porsche that will give me a legitimate chance of doing it again. I am very comfortable at Watkins Glen so let's get going!

I think that Watkins Glen is similar in a lot of ways to Miller Motorsports Park (where Round 3 of the SPEED World Challenge GT Series was held) and after a so-so start to the weekend Will Moody, my great crew chief and engineer, really got our Porsche dialed in and it was fantastic in the race so hopefully we can carry that momentum over to this weekend.

Michael Galati, of Olmstead Ohio, is looking to rebound from a less than satisfactory outing last May in Utah but Michael is confident going to one of his favorite tracks that he can contest for a podium finish in the always tough SPEED GT competition in the World Challenge Series.

I am really looking forward to Watkins Glen, said Galati. Hopefully we can have a good race there so that I can redeem myself after my last race at Miller. It was a disastrous weekend.

I think we will do better at Watkins Glen because this track is a better fit for our K-PAX Porsches. Last year I stalled the car at the start and came back from dead last to finish 5th so this year I need to get a better start and compete for a better finish.

Watkins Glen is a momentum track and all of the turns are different there so you have to have a good setup to do well and I think that our 3R crew can do that.
