No matter what your inclination is when it comes to favorite car makes and models, it's hard not to be a Mazda fan if you're a road racing aficionado. As the excellent Mazda commercials testify, their cars are everywhere - with their cars and engines racing in SCCA Club Racing, World Challenge, Koni Challenge, Grand Am Rolex GT and the American Le Mans Series. Mazda, of course, also has their own Star Mazda and MX-5 Cup series. We developed a better appreciation for the Mazda road cars during the latter half of the summer, when we tried out three different models, from a first-generation race prepared Spec Miata to the current RX-8 and the latest offering from the Mazdaspeed division, the Mazdaspeed3.
