SPEED World Challenge Wednesday - Mosport Special Edition - STaSIS Audis sweep Touring Car qualifying (August 25, 2007) By Jim Bourn
In the rain, if it's not Audi one, two, three, we didn't do our jobs! - Adam Pecorari
Pecorari leads Audi sweep at Mosport
Adam Pecorari made a mid qualifying session pit stop during a red flag to change his #19 PFAFF/STaSIS Audi A4 over to dry tires and the move paid off as Pecorari blasted his way to his first World Challenge pole position here at Mosport.
We had a very good car on Thursday and Friday in the dry, so I knew wet or dry we'd be fairly quick, said Pecorari. Obviously with the all-wheel drive we have an advantage in the wet. I wasn't at the Grand Prix of Toronto, so this is my first time qualifying in the wet. Luckily, Thursday morning the track was very similar to this and we went out on slicks, so I kind of knew how the car would handle.
We were quickest on that one lap before the red flag came out. We came in and I said put the dry tires on, hook the [sway] bar back up and we'll go back out.' So I went back out on the dry tires and it took me a little time, but then I went four or five seconds faster. The car is great and the team's been working really hard.
The move worked for Pecorari as both of the other STaSIS drivers Chip Herr and Ian Baas chose to remain out on wet tires.
