It was the best of times and the worst of times for the Autohaus team.
Peter Lockhart and the Autohaus team got their first World Challenge win as Tommy Archer won the GT race in the c3controls/Autohaus Viper but unfortunately in Touring Car Kuno Wittmer had nothing but evil luck at Road America as two exploded engines kept the Canadian driver from even starting the race.
Wittmer and his De Sigi/Autohaus Mercedes C230 showed top ten speed in practice but in the second session his engine exploded. An unfortunate off shoot of this was that a couple of other cars, including the eventual podium finishing 3R racing Dodge SRT-4 of Robb Holland, found grief as a result of Kuno's problem.
The Autohaus team replaced the engine for Saturday's morning qualifying session but the second engine explosion was larger than the first ending the TC qualifying session early and delaying the start of the GT session.
It didn't matter as everyone was pretty much done by that point anyway, said RealTime Racing's Peter Cunningham.
All Kuno could do was watch the TC race and hope for better fortune when the series heads to his favorite track of Mosport and his home country of Canada.
