Flying low?
Ron Fellows, pictured here driving the #16 XM Satellite Radio/Mobil 1/Motorola/On-Star Cadillac CTS-V during practice at Road America, is normally seen driving, well just about everything in terms of road racing.
Ron was pretty much a non factor in Wisconsin in terms of the GT Championship in World Challenge as he was struggling to maintain a position in the bottom half of the top ten. Late in the race Ron drove off course in turn 5 as a result of a reported flame out but did return to the track as he finished well back.
Since the Canadian driver drove in Round 7 does this mean Ronnie will not be driving the #16 for Round 8 at Mosport?
No way, said Team Cadillac team manager David Spitzer! They would egg our transporter if we didn't have Ron in the car up there! Ron Fellows will be driving a Cadillac CTS-V at Mosport, you can count on that!
David indicated that the new Team Cadillac website, accessible from going to Cadillac.com, has a mockup of the Cadillac CTS-V race cars where the viewer can strip away layers to go from the full car right down to the suspension and engine.
The new Project Gotham Racing graphics on the #16 CTS-V represents an arrangement between Team Cadillac and the racing simulation package which allows online players to select a variety of street Cadillac's.
If the player gets good enough he can get onto the Nurburgring with a racing version and if you are one of the top 1000 fastest laps it will get you into some sort of hall of fame. Sorry about the sketchy details but I am not much of a SIM racer.
At any rate David Spitzer indicated that the new scheme on the 316 isn't really a paint job at all but decal like sheets that can be easily stripped off. Lou Gigliotti indicated that the same process was used on Claudio Burtin's new scheme on the #26 Foametix Corvette.
Andy Pilgrim, who was celebrating his birthday on Saturday at Road America, in the #1 Cadillac CTS-V fared little better than Fellows as he struggled to finish 7th some 17 seconds behind Archer's winning Viper.
With all of the flap and flame about the recent adjustments to the C6 Corvette the CTS-Vs have seemed barely able to keep up of late.
