| Where Have You Gone John Paul Jr? |
Only two days after being suddenly released as lead driver at TWC Motorsports, John Paul, Jr. was at Cleveland in a fellow competitors car. John Macaluso, who owns and normally drives the # 14 It's A Miracle Mustang Cobra, announced that he would be stepping aside for the Cleveland Simple Green 100 to allow John Paul Jr. to drive his Mustang in this race at Cleveland. This all started on Thursday at Daytona during practice for the Paul Revere 250 when the two friends and competitors were talking about John Paul being released by Tom Coleman, team owner of TWC Motorsports. According to reports on Thursday, Mr. Coleman was unhappy that John was competing in the Paul Revere 250 for Dyson Racing at Daytona prior to going to Cleveland for this weekend's event and told Paul that his services were no longer needed at TWC. John Paul had a year-long contract with TWC and this was quite a surprise. He had agreed not to drive Indy Cars during his contract with TWC but was still competing in the Grand American Series with Coleman's knowledge.
John Macaluso, commenting on their conversations prior to coming to an agreement said "J.P. is a great guy and a great driver and it would be a Hoot to have him come to Cleveland and drive my car. Maybe he can help me get my car sorted out and who knows, we might just get lucky and take home a great finish". This sort of attitude shows that in the racing community you are not just racing competitors, but you also become great friends and help each other out whenever you can. In the race John Paul Jr was involved in a first turn incident that took himself out of the race.
